The HITACHI horizontal scroll compressor for refrigeration application was developed and manufactured in 1988 as the world's first.  Using R-22 refrigerant the compressor has an extended cooling range from -45°C to +5°C.  This wide operating range makes the horizontal scroll compressor perfect for cold storage of fruits and vegetables.  This scroll has also been successfully applied throughout the world in many freezer applications.

Today, scroll compressors are very popular due to the high efficiency which results from higher compression achieved at a lower rate of leakage.  Additional energy savings occurs with the HITACHI scroll compressor because of a liquid injection system that prevents the loss of capacity as well as preventing temperature increases in discharged gases under low temperature ranges. 

The HITACHI horizontal scroll's space saving low profile was developed for freezer cases such as those used in supermarkets were space is at a premium.  Low  sound and vibration is the result of designing a small pressure pulsation.  Finally, with few component parts along with liquid refrigerant injection provides high reliability.
